A woman sits casually atop an enormous grenade, absorbed in her phone while destruction gathers beneath her. It is an absurd but increasingly familiar image. Extraordinary threats and realities unfolding alongside the dissociation and ordinary distractions of everyday life.

Conceivably this isn’t to dismiss how difficult it is to sit with that discomfort, but to remind us of the danger in looking away for too long. History has shown us what can happen when we forget. Perhaps forgetting has become the threat in itself.
