Eligibility
- Entry is open to artists residing in the Northern Rivers and surrounding regions.
- Artists may submit a maximum of two (2) artworks. Each artwork requires a separate submission and entry fee.
- All entries must comply with the current Artist Brief and submission requirements.
Original Work
- All submitted works must be the original creation of the entrant.
- Works that have previously won an art prize are not eligible.
- Black Fig Gallery reserves the right to request further information regarding the originality of a work.
Artwork Requirements
- The longest dimension of the finished artwork, including the frame where applicable, must not exceed 60 cm.
- Works must be professionally presented and ready for exhibition.
- Black Fig Gallery reserves the right to reject works that do not meet the published presentation requirements.
Selection
- Submission does not guarantee selection.
- Finalists are selected solely at the discretion of the judging panel.
- The judging panel's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Artist Statements
- Artist statements are required as part of the submission.
- Statements are withheld during the initial judging process and are provided to judges only after finalists have been selected.
Authentic Response
- The judging panel will determine whether an artwork demonstrates an authentic and considered response to the annual question.
Images
- Submitted images must accurately represent the artwork.
- Finalist works must substantially match the submitted images.
- Black Fig Gallery reserves the right to decline works that differ significantly from the original submission.
Copyright
- Artists retain full copyright of their work.
- By entering, artists grant Black Fig Gallery permission to reproduce submitted images for promotional, educational and archival purposes relating to the Plateau Art Prize, Black Fig Gallery and future promotion of the prize. Artists will always be credited.
Sales
- All works must be available for sale throughout the exhibition.
- Black Fig Gallery retains a 35% commission on all sales.
- Finalist works must remain on exhibition for the full duration of the exhibition, regardless of whether they are sold.
Delivery & Collection
- Artists are responsible for the delivery and collection of their work.
- Artworks not collected within the nominated collection period may incur storage fees unless prior arrangements have been made.
Insurance & Liability
- Artists are responsible for arranging their own insurance during transit and throughout the exhibition.
- While every reasonable care will be taken, Black Fig Gallery accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to artworks.
Disqualification
Black Fig Gallery reserves the right to disqualify any entry that:
- provides false or misleading information;
- fails to comply with the published requirements;
- breaches copyright or intellectual property rights;
- is submitted after the closing date; or
- is considered offensive, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate for exhibition.
General
- Black Fig Gallery reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions where reasonably necessary. Any changes will be published on the Black Fig Gallery website prior to the close of entries.
Black Fig Gallery reserves the right not to award a prize in any category should the judging panel determine that no entry meets the standard expected for that award.
Agreement
Submission to 'The Plateau Prize' indicates acceptance of these terms and conditions.
